In-Fighting between GNU and Cisco

Category: Information

ciscoThe two are fighting over rights to the source code of Cisco’s products which have embedded code that makes them work which Cisco is denying to the many users of their products who may wish to modify their programming. Cisco is a major proponent of the Linux Kernel and the fight is seen as a conflict of interest for Cisco’s products are one of the best and most selling networking products on the market being used on the net. Linksys is Cisco’s networking brand sports applications built into their routers and other networking products so the consortium wants access to the source code of their products that would in effect make their devices customizable. Cisco is being adamant about the whole thing for they have been funding the development of the many Linux programs that are used within the many Cisco Products and that the manufacturer has failed to deliver requests for the source codes of their routers. That very same code was developed by the Linux community with them claiming ownership of the said code which is similar to the programs embedded within Cisco’s routers.
